Portsoy:
Portsoy itself is a beautifully quaint fishing village, which has retained much of its original charm. Steeped in history, Portsoy dates from the 17th Century, and was an important port, trading with the Netherlands and Scandinavia. Portsoy marble was shipped around the world - Louis XIV ordered some for his palace at Versailles. Portsoy is home to the immensely popular annual Traditional Small Boats Festival.

Coastal Trail:
All along the coast are miles of sandy beaches, just waiting for your bucket and spade! Viewed by car, on foot, or by boat, the Moray Firth is a Special Area of Conservation, with its varied marinelife, birds and wildlife. Look for the famous Moray Firth dolphins; seals; puffins; pine martens; and the gannet colony at RSPB Troup Head. Dotted along the coast, are pretty fishing villages and tiny hamlets, clinging to the shoreline with their dramatic backdrop of rugged cliffs.
